The Platform for European Fathers (PEF) was founded at the European Parliament building in Brussels, Belgium on Monday June 27, 2011.
On the initiative of mr. Peter Tromp, chair of the Dutch ‘Vader Kennis Centrum‘ (Father Knowledge Centre), and made possible with the support of MEP mrs. Marije Cornelissen from the Greens/EFE in the European Parliament, participants of 16 father-, fatherhood- and equal parenting organisations came together on Monday 27th of June, 2011 at the PEF founding meeting in the European Parliament building in Brussels, Belgium to agree and sign the Founding Statement for the EU federational NGO ‘Platform for European Fathers’ (PEF).

The founding of the Platform for European Fathers (PEF) was welcomed at the ‘European fathers’ congress’ in the European Parliament that was organised by the Greens/EFA on June 28, 2011 in support of paternity leave.
